One thing i liked or learned today is...
Lessons/Morals
-All people can be alike in all ways even when their skin is different. In one story there was a girl who made a promise and broke her promise by being greedy with diamonds, gold, and silver. That was the story about five brothers with special powers. I have connections, the man is First Nation and i am a First Nations too. I am guessing he has been to a Pow wow. Then i will have two connections with the Aboriginal storyteller at the library. I have another connection and that is i like to tell Aboriginal stories. Me and the Aboriginal storyteller have a lot in common.
-That i really enjoyed the Aboriginal storyteller because i thought it was really cool. The authors message was in the second story, that when you make a deal or promise you can't break it cause when you see a person saying 'come back', you don't just sit there and be picking up coins, you have to come back when someone is calling you. I thought that person did a great job of telling the stories and telling us about different cultures and telling us how people are different.
-I learned that Natives have their own celebrations and have their own songs and stories like ours.
-People have different cultures and celebrations like we have birthdays and other people don't celebrate them. And that's pretty much it.
-That i enjoyed the stories he read. The Aboriginal storyteller taught us that it is not about your culture, it's about what is inside of you so you can make a difference. In one of the stories there was quintuplets with special powers and the moral of the story was to never be greedy, go through with your deal, and that everyone can be special. Even though we all celebrate different we can all be the same. My last connection is that even though First Nations are in a different culture they are still a proud member of Canada!
-I liked the storytelling because it was funny and interesting. One thing i learned is that whenever i make a promise i should keep it.
-That having super powers means you have to be careful how you use them. And i learned that i definitely do not want super powers.
-One connection i have is when i have been mean to a friend, my sister was always there for me. A story was read to me and the class. It was about a little girl that made a promise to an older boy and she broke it. The moral of the story is to keep a promise and not to forget what you made!
Stories
-That i enjoyed the aboriginal storyteller because i really liked the story, especially the second one. The reason i liked the second one better is because it told us about the quadruplets and i think the storyteller was saying that it really doesn't matter what skin color you have. The moral of the story was not to be so greedy and if you make a deal, you have to do it. The Aboriginal people have a different way of singing. They just make different words up. They use a drum for lots of stuff like when they are dancing and singing. I really liked his ribbon shirt. I think each ribbon could stand for the story you read but i don't really know. The Aboriginal storyteller was great!
-I enjoyed the storyteller. He was trying to teach us there is no difference between people or their skin color or what country. You know we are all the same. I liked his shirt because it was colorful and his story about the five identical brothers. The moral of the story was don't be so greedy and that girl was lucky she landed in Alberta because she could have drowned. And she was very greedy.
-That i enjoyed the Aboriginal Storyteller. One of the things i learned was they do ceremonies. After that he put on his storytelling shirt. Next he told us a story about five identical people. The moral of the story is not to be greedy and to keep your promises. The he asked us questions and he said we were smart. One thing i liked was when Lyndon Linklater played his drum during the stories and i liked his storytelling. I found it was really cool. I hope we can go back next year!
-I liked that Mr. Linklater's stories had humour in them. I also enjoyed how he tied aspects of the past with modern day ideas we could relate to.
-One thing i liked today is how he told the stories. I also like how he sang the songs.
-I liked the stories and i liked how he described them. I like the brother story and Central song.
-I liked the way he acted out his stories. I laughed alot, it was really fun. I liked the story about the five brothers the most.
-One thing i liked was how he told the stories and he had some really good expression.
-He was the funniest storyteller in the world. I really liked when he did the actions and i love the story he said, they were amazing.
-I liked the stories and the way he acted them out. The stories were great and funny. It was the best storytelling I've heard.
-I liked the way the storyteller told both of the stories because he expressed himself. The story i liked was of the 5 children one. I also really liked his aboriginal t-shirt.
-I liked the story about the five boys. And the one where the guy thought he heard singing and he thought the grass were people dancing.
-I liked the five brothers story.
-I liked the story and song he played. And his shirt.
-I liked the two stories and how he used expression for them. I also liked it when he puffed up like a fish.
-I liked the story about the little boy who thought he saw people dancing and singing it was the grass and the water.
-I liked the stories that Lyndon told to us on February 11, 2009.
-I liked it when the little girl knocked on the door in the middle of court and she never drowned.
-I liked the second story because it was funny. I learned a new beat i can do on my drums.
-I liked all of the expression and all the emotion in his stories. I also liked all the excitement and adventure. I learned that there is all kinds of cultures. I thought it was funny when the man jumped out of his tepee and forget to put on his pants.
-I liked all the neat stories that he told us. I learned that some people have a ribbon shirt. Ribbon shirts are neat. The stories that he told us were funny. The first one was funny when he rowed and rowed and rowed and he kept rowing and rowing. The second one was neat too, when the brothers had powers.
-I liked the part when the man made his neck turn into metal.
-I liked it when he did the actions and the stories he told. They were called The Five Magic Boys and Mecansye.
-I liked the stories because they were funny and my favorite part was when they tried to cut off his head. I liked when he nodded, yes, hi, hi.
-I liked both of the stories but mostly the last one that he told us. I liked the ribbon shirt. I liked when some of the brothers had powers. My favorite brother was the guy who had big long legs. That guy was cool. My favorite part was when they dressed up as an old lady. Now that was cool!
-I liked it when we went to the library. When this guy named Lyndon told us some stories. Wasakichik was my favorite character.
-The story about the five brothers was very funny. In the other story i liked when the man went running and ran back in because he didn't have his pants on. It gave me a hilarious picture in my mind!
-I learnt that stories can be fun. I liked the second story best because of the 5 brothers. I liked the first story because of all the paddling.
-I liked that the girl in the story ended up in Alberta.
-I liked the story about the five brothers that had super powers. One of the brothers could suck up all the lake water, and one could grow his legs, and one likes cold, and one likes hot and one could turn any part of his body to metal. I liked your drum.
-Is that i can enjoy Aboriginal storytellers. The man who told the stories was very funny. I think there isn't too many differences between us and the First Nations besides language and spirit. The storyteller told us a fantastic story. But the moral of the story is that little girl broke her promise about getting out when he signaled. I really liked listening to his stories!
-That i enjoyed the Aboriginal storyteller. My connection to one of the stories is everyone is different no matter what. My next connection is the First Nations have celebrations too, such as birthdays. My last connection is that the First Nations tell stories. I think that one of the stories lesson is that a promise is a promise.
-That i can enjoy and respect the First Nations culture. We can learn to respect it by seeing that we are alike. My idea of the storytelling was awesome! Thank you.
-That just because we are different cultures doesn't mean we have to fight. We all have different beliefs. I liked the story he told us about the 5 brothers. The point of the story was not to be greedy. He also told us another story that loneliness can sometimes fool you. The main thing i liked was learning about other people's culture and about the First Nations. I'm looking forward to next year.
-I thought the Aboriginal storyteller was good. When First Nations tell stories some use a drum and some have a special shirt, some sing a song. In a story yesterday there was a girl and she was very greedy. I thought the Aboriginal storyteller was good!
Drums
-That i really enjoyed the Aboriginal storytelling. My favorite story is the story with the quintuplets. I think the moral of the story is to keep promises or listen to what people say. Some things i learnt are a drum is the heartbeat of the Earth. Also First Nations sometimes don't sing songs with words in them.
-One thing i liked today was when he played his drum through the stories. I liked it when Lyndon played his drum and sang but they don't have any words, just sounds and he sang us one that he probably sang in a Pow wow with his group. Lyndon Linklater is amazing!
-The two things i liked is how he told the two stories and how he acted it all out. The other one is how he used his drum for the music.
-I liked the drumming and the singing and also i liked the stories. I learned that First Nations have many different names.
-I liked the stories and the drum.
-The buffalo drum because of all of the different sounds it made. It was very interesting. It was also very cool. My favorite part was the story of the 5 quintuplets. It was funny.
